Helping QCD Autocentre Brackley Achieve ISO 14068-1

Motornomic Guides QCD Autocentre Brackley to UK's First ISO 14068-1 Carbon Neutrality Certification for an Independent Garage or Accident Repair Centre

In a landmark achievement for the UK automotive aftermarket, QCD Autocentre Brackley (& QCD Revive Collision Centre) a combined SMR & Accident Repair site, has become what is believed to be the first of its kind in the country to achieve ISO 14068-1 certification for carbon neutrality, with strategic support from industry platform provider Motornomic.

Cressida Pillay of QCD shares their new ISO 14068-1 accomplishment.

This certification represents a significant milestone in the sector's sustainability journey, establishing a new benchmark for environmental responsibility in collision repair.

New Global Standard Raises the Bar

One unique aspect of body shops and accident repair is that in order to access work provision, in this case, mostly through insurance, environmental & carbon offsetting standards are mandated.

ISO 14068-1 is the international standard for carbon neutrality that supersedes the previously established PAS 2060 standard, with more rigorous requirements.

"ISO 14068-1 certification demonstrates genuine commitment to measuring, monitoring and reducing climate impact across all operations." said Leigh Tymms COO at Motornomic”.

Strategic Implementation Process

Motornomic's support began by providing the tooling for a detailed emissions audit at QCD Autocentre Brackley, establishing baseline measurements across all operations. This was followed by implementing a tailored carbon reduction strategy that included Team car sharing & use of EV vehicles, waste reduction team engagement programs.

"The transformation requires us to really consider our operations through a sustainability lens," said Reaz Mojumder, Director at QCD Brackley. "Motornomic's expertise & toolkit makes a complex process manageable, helping us identify opportunities for improvement."

Industry Implications

As the UK government advances its net-zero targets, the automotive repair sector faces increasing pressure to reduce its environmental footprint. Early adopters of ISO 14068-1 certification gain several advantages as more work providers may consider the implications of environmental impact and carbon neutrality, eventually even is service, maintenance and repair sites.

"The journey to carbon neutrality is challenging but achievable with the right support," added Reaz. "QCD Brackley has proven that garages can progress toward environmental consideration while maintaining operational excellence & use this as a basis to unlock more work"
