Carbon Credentials Terms of Use

1. Overview

These Terms of Use supplement the wider Motornomic Ltd Terms and Conditions of Use and outline the scope, purpose, and key principles of the Carbon Credentials service, delivered by Motornomic Ltd in partnership with CBAM-UK Ltd, the approved verification partner. The service is designed to support businesses in achieving ISO 14068-1 carbon neutrality certification, either through direct certification or by converting from PAS 2060.

2. Service Objectives

The Carbon Credentials service aims to:

  • Help businesses measure, report, and reduce their carbon emissions.

  • Support the transition from PAS 2060 to ISO 14068-1 where applicable.

  • Facilitate independent third-party verification and certification by CBAM-UK Ltd.

  • Provide access to ongoing compliance support and digital carbon management tools.

3. Subscription Summary Terms

The service is delivered as a fixed-term subscription lasting 24 months.

  • The subscription cannot be cancelled or refunded once activated.

  • Monthly fees are payable throughout the full term, regardless of certification progress.

  • The subscription includes access to platform features (upon launch), annual compliance reviews, data verification by CBAM-UK Ltd, and certification services.

4. Responsibilities

  • Motornomic Ltd: Provides access to compliance tracking features, reporting templates, and customer support throughout the subscription period.

  • CBAM-UK Ltd: Acts as the independent verification body responsible for reviewing and validating emissions data, conducting gap analysis, and issuing ISO 14068-1 certification upon successful assessment.

  • Customer: Responsible for providing accurate, complete, and timely data submissions; committing to ongoing compliance reporting; and offsetting any residual emissions through approved carbon credit providers. If this role is not fulfilled, ISO 14068-1 will not be achieved and the suppliers reserve the right to discontinue the service and invoice for any costs or losses sustained until that date.

5. Certification Options

The service offers two pathways:

  • PAS 2060 to ISO 14068-1 Conversion: For businesses already certified under PAS 2060.

  • Direct ISO 14068-1 Certification: For businesses new to carbon neutrality certification.

6. Scope of Certification

Certification is based on:

  • Submission of accurate carbon footprint data aligned to ISO 14064-1 standards for the specified minimum period.

  • A verifiable carbon reduction plan.

  • Verified offsetting of residual emissions (tCO₂e) through approved providers.

  • A formal assessment and verification by CBAM-UK Ltd.

7. Duration and Validity

Certification is valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, subject to ongoing compliance. Customers must complete an annual review to maintain certification status.

8. Subscription Terms

  • The service is delivered through a fixed 24-month subscription.

  • Subscription includes verification, compliance support, platform access (when launched), and ongoing reviews.

  • Cancellation is not permitted during the term due to resource allocation and fixed service costs.

  • Upon release, later 2025, access to Motornomic's Carbon Credentials platform is included in the subscription. You agree not to misuse the platform or share access credentials outside your organisation. All materials, templates, tools, and content provided as part of the Carbon Credentials service remain the intellectual property of Motornomic Ltd or its partners. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use these resources solely for your internal certification process.

9. Data Handling

Motornomic Ltd and CBAM-UK Ltd process customer data for the purpose of delivering this service. For full details of our data handling, please consult our privacy policy.

10. Limitation of Liability - customers attention is drawn to this clause

Motornomic Ltd and CBAM-UK Ltd shall under no circumstances whatever be liable to the customer, for any loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss arising under or in connection with the Contract; and the Supplier's total liability to the customer shall in no circumstances exceed the total amount paid by the Client to the Supplier under the Contract.

11. Termination

Motornomic Ltd reserves the right to terminate access to the service if you breach these terms, misuse the platform, or provide fraudulent data.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

13. Policy Updates

Motornomic Ltd reserves the right to amend this policy at any time. Any material changes will be communicated to active subscribers with reasonable notice.
